MayDay Club Youth Choir:
The Mayday Club Youth Choir for Neurodiversity is a professional
children’s choir that was started in 2016 by Nicole Provost, a UBC student diagnosed with
Asperger’s Syndrome, as a means to combat the stigmas and isolation that individuals who are
‘different’ often encounter.

Keynote by Lucas Gates “My Journey on the Spectrum”
Lucas Gates is a young adult living on the spectrum and living it to the fullest. Lucas is 27-years old
as well as a third-generation Vancouverite is proud of how far our community has become a more
accepting place for all. Lucas works at both the Pacific Autism Family Network and Canucks Sports Camp;
Entertainment as a Representative and as a Retail Sales Associate, respectfully.
Lucas is proud to be on the spectrum, because he wouldn't be here making a difference for many.

Shelley Moore Inclusive Education: What does it mean in today’s classrooms?
Originally from Edmonton, and now based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Shelley Moore is a highly
sought-after teacher, researcher, speaker and storyteller and has worked with school districts
and community organizations throughout both Canada and the United States. Shelley's
presentations are constructed based on contexts of schools and communities and integrate theory
and effective practices of inclusion, special education, curriculum and teacher professional
development. Her first book entitled, “One Without the Other” was released in July 2016 to
follow up her TEDx talk. Shelley completed an undergraduate degree in Special Education at the
University of Alberta, her masters at Simon Fraser University, and is currently a PhD candidate at
the University of British Columbia.
